Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for a Senior Project Manager for a 6 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Role:
We are looking for a senior PM. This particular project involves the acquisition of MBNA and assessing the current business model and offerings, and whether or not there would be conversion of MBNA business model and other offerings. The Project Manager would be managing the insurance element of the project and managing the team who are developing the solution.

Candidates who have worked at Financial Services or Insurance Industry will be given preference as long as they have the relevant experience required for this requisition. PMP and ITIL are preferred as well as candidates with qualifying hours training hours in the last 5 years. Candidates will be shortlisted either on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning, depending on the number of submissions received. Interviews will take place next week. Please note this requisition is for six months with a strong possibility of being extended.

The Insurance PMO provides governance and oversight on all Business Projects and Programs, following the TDBG guidelines set by the EPMO. Partnering with the business and technology areas, we are committed to improving Project, Program, and Portfolio Management execution.



JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role is accountable for leading a team of resources in the project management process and project management deliverables, and has overall responsibility for the completion of projects.


MANAGE AND IMPLEMENT PROJECTS
·         Accountable for the project management process and project management deliverables, for assigned projects
·         Ensures 100% compliance to project management methodology by ensuring that recognized project management processes, discipline and controls are consistently applied to projects
·         Negotiates and issues project documentation as agreed to by the Project Sponsor and involved Stakeholders
·         Identifies all project dependencies and risks, ensuring that they are effectively managed
·         Ensures mitigation/contingency plans are in place for identified risks
·         Executes project management deliverables within budget and as per the approved project plan, working with business partners to develop the content of those deliverables
·         Controls change to project scope through accepted change management processes and documentation
·         Investigates, escalates and ensures that all project issues are effectively resolved
·         Ensures all team members understand the Readiness process and facilitates Readiness sessions
·         Manages all communication to key stakeholders, including the Project Sponsor, Business Project Owner and all required project Stakeholders ensuring they are aware of current status and/or significant changes to the project status in a timely manner
·         Provides advice and guidance to business partners as required regarding best practices in project management
·         Develops an understanding of the business and/or technical aspects of the project in order to effectively manage the project and resources


DEVELOP PEOPLE/TEAMWORK
·         Provides project management coaching and overall team leadership for project team members, and may be required to provide regular input into team members’ assessment of performance
·         Prioritizes and manages own workload and the workload of project team members in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
·         Effectively manages project resources and external contractors/consultants in coordination of competing priorities
·         Negotiates with business partners for skilled resources
·         Manages client relationships as they pertain to projects assigned and deals with individuals at all levels of the organization
·         Builds consensus and relationships with project team and business, through both thought partnership and superior negotiation skills

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate will have:
·         Minimum of 5 years Project Manager experience
·         Completion of 50 Qualifying Training Hours taken in the last 5 years
·         Completed courses in scheduling, project risk management, leadership and human resources is preferred
·         Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred
·         Possesses excellent leadership skills that can facilitate solution generation and the transition of knowledge within and between teams
·         Highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple projects
·         Understanding of the Insurance Business an asset
·         May oversee Project Managers, professional staff, vendors and/or consultants
·         May be required to initiate and manage RFP's (requests for proposals) and to participate in vendor selection
·         Proficiency with MS Office PC software applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project, Visio)
·         People management experience would be an asset


SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ACCREDITATIONS:
·         College / University or equivalent work experience.
·         Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred


What makes a contractor successful on this team? Competent and could make suggestions without being opinionated; understands and can talk about the project methodology in detail level without the use of a PCO; strong business acumen and approachable


Top 3 technical must have skills:
·         Min of 5 year PM experience
·         PMP designation
·         Proficiency in MS office PC software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)


Nice to have skills:
·         Understanding of the Insurance Business

·         People management experience
