Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for an Infrastructure Engineer for a 7 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Role:
• Designs technically feasible engineering solutions for the client’s applications, product offerings, client’s projects and initiatives, ensuring the engineering direction aligns with both the short and long-term business needs/objectives.
• Evaluate, review and participate in the procurement of new technical solutions
• Plan, design, configure, test and integrate technological frameworks and solutions to meet business requirements.
• Define, maintain and monitor engineering principles, procedures and practices in support of the business and technological vision of the organization.
• Introduce processes, tools, techniques and procedures into the technology environment to support the consistent application of principles, improvement in productivity, efficiency and quality of projects, applications and technical solutions.
• Scans and stays current on technological advancements, the impact and relativity of advancements on client needs and engineering, identifying potential benefits and risks to the implementation / use of new and evolving technologies.
• Conducts research, provides analyses and recommendations for the selection of Commercial products, system components, standards and processes. Conducts quality assurance reviews and signs-off on any project design deliverables, providing documented feedback.
• Strong knowledge and experience in networking engineering is an asset


Requirement or Qualifications:
• Requires more than 5 years up to and including 7 years working with general engineering including several years specializing in Solutions Engineering
• Experience/knowledge of healthcare sector’s conceptual and logical data models, where they exist
• System performance tuning
• Shell scripting
• Storage area networks
• TCP/IP
• Clustering technologies e.g. VERITAS Foundation Products
• Networking e.g. Switching, Routing, Firewalls, VPN
• Experienced in architecting and designing
• Technical expertise developing highly available, scalable, disaster recovery capable.
• Experience/knowledge of application and information architecture with specific experience in the following disciplines:
• Infrastructure Architecture
• DNS
• Knowledge of network design
• Able to evaluate, review and participate in the procurement of new technical solutions for
• Able to plan, design, configure, test and integrate technological frameworks and solutions to meet client’s business requirements and standards
• Backup and recovery
• Privacy and Security risk assessments
• Able to define, maintain and monitor architectural principles, procedures and practices in support of the business and technological vision of the organization
• UNIX Expertise
• Solaris, AIX and Linux.
• Knowledgeable of Hitachi Data Storage System and IBM Storage System
• DB2 for z/OS Design and Configuration
• Service Oriented Architecture
• Hardware deployment
• Dataset naming standards
• Microsoft Windows
• Strong knowledge and experience in networking architecture is an asset
