Solutions Architect III

Our client has a requirement for Solutions Architect III, for a 6 month opportunity.  The positions are located in Toronto.

Qualified Candidates will have:

Our client is looking for a Solution Architect to join the Architecture and Technology Planning (ATP) team providing architecture and technology guidance to project delivery teams as they develop client solutions. WBTS supports Securities, Capital and Asset Management. The Solution Architect will have key involvement in building out our business aligned initiatives. The Solution Architect also provides expertise and counsel; ensuring technology teams and business areas understand the architectural options and technology choices in support of their business.

Accountabilities include:
*Contribute to, design and/or develop an architecture framework including technology architecture strategy, policies, 'guiding principles' and standards to govern how technology solutions will be developed and implemented -
*Partake in specifications, technical requirements, system performance objectives and identify system modifications required to meet objectives
*Ensure projects are compliant with technology architecture and design/operate processes to provide ongoing review of in-progress activity against technology architecture and development standards
*Provide expert consultation and participate as a subject matter expert on projects
*Apply industry/technical knowledge to provide solutions that increase business results and/or minimize risk (computing various risk-factors)
*Facilitate collaboration and decision-making within/across business units to ensure consistent application of IT strategy and compliance with architecture framework (only a soft skills)
*Communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met

*Knowledge of trading products/asset classes (cash and derivatives) and their associated risk factors. (not mandatory)
*Basically Wholesale products/ understanding RISK- preferred
*Knowledge of methodologies used for Bank VAR, Counterparty credit exposure, risk monitoring, P&L, stress and sensitivity reporting.
*Knowledge of valuation modeling and associated valuation inputs - trade details, underlying security information, market data etc.
*Knowledge of historical and through time scenario generation used for various risk calculations..

Breadth & Depth
*Works independently and/or autonomously on complex, highly visible architecture projects
*Primary subject matter expert and has in-depth knowledge of more than one  application and/or line of business
*Consults with clients and/or project teams with respect to all aspects of architecture including IT governance
*Manages/Directs activities related to analysis and design of architecture on larger projects
*Acts as a key resource in the exchange of architectural information for project teams, the business and/or outside vendors

Education/Accreditations
University or college degree - or relevant work experience

Technical:
*Proficient in designing and/or building systems that are highly secure, highly available Experience applying SOA application designs
*Experience with event driven architecture, real-time messaging
*Strong in J2EE
*Experience with DB/2, Oracle and Cognos
*Strong in grid computing and optimizing computational throughput-nice
*Experience in distributed systems, grid computing and optimization of computational processing
*Proficient in object/data modeling
*Proficient with Unix/Windows/Linux

*10+ years IT industry experience

*DB2/ COGNOS/ TIBCO / I-PROCESS
*someone who is knowledgeable of Cognos and DB2 (understands the inner-workings of these two products)
*The stack of Technology is Ibm WAS, AIX, DB2, Cognos, TIBCO (business works, I-Process, and EMS)
*Not coding but working with development team and infrastructure teams
*Ideal hands on as a developer/ Architect
*Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
*Broad knowledge across on the technology side
