Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for an IT Project Manager - Master Data Management for a 6 month contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto, Ontario.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The candidate will be part of a Program Team responsible for managing and delivering Master Data Management Projects. Work includes directing project staff and delivering all aspects of the Project Management and Systems Development Life Cycle. Project Managers work collaboratively with the business to deliver to meet the business priorities. The successful candidate will have knowledge of enterprise master data technology initiatives in support of business, operations and technology teams, and knowledge of enterprise master data strategies and best practices. The Project Manager will have experience with standards, guidelines, and processes which have addressed recurring strategic enterprise master data issues, such as data convergence, data standards and data synchronization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Delivery
•Accountable for overall delivery of Master Data Management Projects, with the specified level of quality for the project sponsor, on time and within budget and scope
•Experienced in System Development Lifecycle and Project Management methodologies and the ability to apply them in a flexible manner in various situations
•Prepares formal project documentation and obtains appropriate authorizations
•Plans, prepares and maintains project schedules to meet the client’s standards
•Identifies critical path and determines and integrates milestones, control points, imposed dates and Go/No-go decision points into the schedule
•Uses appropriate planning and monitoring techniques to control project costs
•Manages scope, schedule and cost priorities between stakeholder groups and within the project team; Manages the activities of project(s) to align with strategic direction
Leadership
•Develops the project organization and structure to optimize alignment of individual and group skills with project tasks
•Provides a high level of relationship management; resolving conflicts and enabling discussions amongst stakeholders, management, co-workers and team members with varied interests.
•Maintains and encourages open lines of communication between groups/functional areas/team members
•Provides leadership, motivation, coaching and professional development for project teams in order to obtain a high level of co-operation and contribution for all project team resources
Communication
•Prepares and delivers executive presentations; facilitate workshops, handles complex questions from varied audiences, and responds to difficult questions
•Prepare all status reporting and writes clear, concise and effective communications related to sensitive and complex issues
•Contributes to improve the best practices or the project management community within the Enterprise to help maintain project management professionalism
•Work with interested parties within the client to negotiate contracts with external vendors to ensure receipt of specific resources and materials, as well as best value for the Enterprise Decision-Making & Problem Solving
•Drives the decision-making process; is proactive in taking the initiative and the lead for identifying, analyzing and resolving issues
•Conducts formal risk management sessions. Documents and manages risk management plan
•Applies a structured approach to problem-solving, understands the context and impact of problems and demonstrates an extensive knowledge of available resources and content
•Provides post mortem/root cause analysis for significant issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•University degree or equivalent
•PMP certification
•7-10 years IT Project Management experience
•3-5 years experience managing medium to large sized, complex Master Data Management projects from strategy to implementation using a disciplined approach to project management
•Experience with MDM tools
•Experience with IBM MDM Server an asset
•Experience in BI and Data Warehousing an asset
•Ability to manage at least three or more projects simultaneously
•Demonstrated PM competencies: budget and timeline management, scope management, risk management, issues management, timely decision making, effective team building, ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately and deal with changing priorities
•Experienced in Project Management methodologies and the ability to apply them in a flexible manner in various situations, particularly package implementations.
•Experience with iterative development methodology an asset
•MS Project/MS Office (Power Point/Excel) advanced capabilities
•Possesses strong leadership capabilities
•Possesses strong communication skills
•Is able to impact and influence key project participants and stakeholders
•Excellent people management skills; experience working with and managing teams in a matrix environment
•Executive presence, strong presentation and facilitation skills
•Conflict resolution and effective mediation skills
•Recognizes and celebrates team success
•Proactively identifies potential problems and vulnerabilities and applies a structured approach to problem solving
•Knowledge of retail industry environment and inter-related business units a definite asset
