Accountabilities:

• Management, maintenance and delivery of Microsoft Windows Server and VMWare ESX infrastructure supporting the Company's business systems.
• Assist and/or lead in the management and delivery of Microsoft and Blackberry messaging and collaboration server platforms.
• Assist and/or lead in the management and delivery of Microsoft IIS and IBM WebSphere web services.
• Participation (leader and/or shared) in technical project implementations.
• Incident and problem solving of complex technical issues, including flexible and on-call after hours support for critical systems.
• Technical design and project documentation.
• Development, collection, and analysis of system/service performance metrics.
• Continuous improvement of the infrastructure through rationalization, optimization, standardization, and simplification.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years in a similar IT role
• Platform (Wintel) - Strong-to-expert knowledge of Windows server platforms including Server 2003/2008.
• Virtualization - Strong-to-expert knowledge of VMWare ESX platform
• Platform Management & Automation - Strong knowledge of industry standard platform management and automation utilities, eg. Microsoft SCOM, Altiris, CA, BMC Patrol, etc
• Directory Services, Collaboration & Messaging - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Exchange (all versions) and Active Directory (2003/08).  Strong knowledge of Microsoft collaboration technology including SharePoint.  Experience with OCS/Lync 2007 a strong asset.
• Internet Services - Strong knowledge of Microsoft IIS and/or IBM WebSphere.
• Databases - Working-to-strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2000-2008 technologies - particularly from an operations and implementation perspective.
• Networking & Storage - Strong knowledge of Microsoft networking technologies, TCP/IP, and core security.  Working knowledge of the design and administration of Storage and backup technologies including SAN, NAS, nearline, tape backup, etc.
• Education - Technical/computer related diploma and/or related industry experience. 
• Technical Certification - Certification and/or accreditation of above listed core technologies a strong asset.  Core certification should include a MCSE / MCSA 2003/2008.  ITIL foundations a strong asset

Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for a Permanent Role as a Remote Network Support Administrator in Kanata. As the Administrator, you will be responsible for all remote monitoring of external systems for clients requiring outside support.  This will include Designing/Implementing complex local and wide-area networks, establishing policies on system use and services, and day to day administration of Microsoft server/AD environment and network related systems.

Requirement or Qualifications:

• More than five years of previous system administration experience
• CompTIA Network + Certified
• CompTIA A+ Certification (Hardware & Software)
• MCITP or MCSE: Server Administrator 2008
• Experience with:  Desktop and laptop hardware support, Windows XP/Vista7 Workstation, Windows 2000/2003/2008 Server, Exchange 2003/2010, Server Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix), TCP/IP protocol suite and Ethernet networks
• Knowledge of Network and Desktop management tools such as Open Manage, Netflow, and Microsoft SMS
• Knowledge of UPS and power supplies – monitoring and configuring for best performance
• Capable of writing proposals or paper, acting as a vendor liaison, marking presentations to customers or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management.
• A solid understanding of Windows Networks; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions), can use performance analysis to tune systems
• A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, client/server programming, and the design of consistent network-wide file system layouts

Nice to have:

• Citrix certified
• VMware Certified
