Our client has a requirement for Infrastructure Architect for a 12 months Contract opportunity.  The positions are located in Calgary, Alberta

Job Description: 
  • End-to-end infrastructure design and integration of new technology.
  • Participate and support all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis to implementation and operational handoff.
  • Take a leadership position in the design of infrastructure solutions based on the requirements, architectural roadmap and guiding principles. The key deliverables are the detailed design documentation and specifications.
  • Consults on projects with regards to IS infrastructure information to projects including costs, work packages estimation and identification of dependencies.
  • Review and support Business Case and/or Decision Summary development for projects requiring infrastructure change.
  • Ensuring the infrastructure design is implemented appropriately by the implementation team and revisions to configuration specifications are reviewed, approved and documented.
  • Ensuring designs are approved with TransCanada’s design principles, standards and practices.
  • Delivery of design and configuration specifications.


Qualified Candidates will have:
 
Wintel architecture - Microsoft Windows Server Platform - 2003/2008, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, Cluster Services, Microsoft Application Server Platform - IIS 6.0/7.0, SQL Server, MOSS, SCCM, SCOM
             
Key Industry Technologies - Storage (NetApp and EMC), Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V and Citrix) and Network Infrastructure (Cisco, Nortel, Checkpoint, F5, NetScaler)
             
IT Infrastructure design - Ability to independently complete design plans based on identified requirements which include Bill of Materials, conceptual overview, implementation plan, operational support and resourcing   matrices, and pertinent test scripts.


Other:  
  • Proven ability to integrate requirements from varying areas of the enterprise.
  • Proven ability of designing and implementing a solution that meets requirements, complies with organization architectural and cyber security standards, cognizant of current state and future sustainability.
  • Strong technical knowledge of OS, Middleware and Application Server Products and enterprise delivery.
  • Strong systems integration skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and non-technical language.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles.
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Effective listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self motivated and directed.

Technical Specialist - Sharepoint Administrator

About the Job

Job Description:


Our client has a requirement for a Sharepoint Administrator for a 6 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.


Requirement or Qualifications:

As a Technical Specialist on the Enterprise Collaboration Services Team, you will leverage your strong technical and interpersonal skills to support a growing Sharepoint infrastructure. You will be involved in providing Sharepoint infrastructure support for key applications, as well as day-to-day support for the Sharepoint infrastructure, and provisioning team sites and associated end user support on an as-needed basis.


Qualified Candidates will have:


Role Summary:


Specific duties & responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

Daily Administration of MOSS 2007 and SharePoint 2010 environments, including tasks for :

•configure, deploy and maintain multiple server farms
•troubleshoot and monitor performance
•develop and maintain backup/restore/disaster recovery process
•implement and test hotfixes/upgrades
•design and implement improvements (ie: cost savings, performance)
•identify trends
•capacity planning
•incident/problem resolution to support pre-defined application and environment SLAs
•3rd level support for Sharepoint environments
•flexible after hours support


Interaction with user community for the following:

•deploy template applications for collaborative teams (ie: team sites, project sites)
•Sharepoint functionality, including product demos
•Site Administrator escalations
•Sharepoint capabilities
•usage reporting
•training recommendations
•Involvement with ongoing projects to implement new Sharepoint custom applications
•provide SME consulting with project resources, make recommendations
•review and approve infrastructure and application design documents
•implement, test, deploy project environments according to established best practices
•document deployments and train 1st and 2nd level support teams
•Other duties as assigned by Team Lead or Manager


REQUIREMENTS:

•Minimum of four years experience in SharePoint/ MOSS environments
•Strong working knowledge of Wintel platforms and supporting infrastructure (Windows Server, Active Directory, Symantec security products, SQL server)
•MSCE certification or related experience
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent problem solving skills
•Experience in providing 2nd line support
•Work well in a team environment
•Strong understanding of information security and its role in a production environment
•Experience with patch management (O/S, application, anti-virus signatures) in a production environment
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a balance of priorities
•2-3 years of IT experience
•Must have a working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS and WINS
•Research, test, document and implement new technology


Mandatory Skills:

•MOSS 2007 or SharePoint 2010
•Windows 2003/2008 Operating System
•Knowledge of Active Directory in a production environment
•Knowledge of Symantec security products
•Knowledge of SQL server
•Excellent problem solving skills


Experience with the following is an asset:

•VMware
•Microsoft Clustering Services in a production environment
•SAN/NAS technology
•HP PolyServe high availability environment for SQL server
•Experience in application development, especially for SharePoint environment
