Role
The Capacity Management Team within a Bank Infrastructure Technology Solutions (ITS) provides centralized capacity management, planning and acquisition of hardware and software for all platforms and technologies. ITS Capacity Management is seeking an individual contributor to join the Capacity Planning & Management Team.

Responsibilities
  • Creates capacity plan for compute, M/W and D/B technologies on project-by-project basis
  • Leverages project forecast demand to develop long-term forecasts on infrastructure/ LOB capacity requirements for compute, M/W and D/B technologies
  • Communicate to platform owners and LOBs on long-term capacity infrastructure requirements
  • Leverages currency reports to ensure that future capacity plans/reports take into account versioning and standards
  • Tracks relevant performance metrics
  • Usage of capacity plans to engage procurement team proactively/at an early stage
  • Reports on capacity utilization, alerting relevant parties based on results
  • Provides actionable recommendations to avoid capacity-related issues proactively (using data from reporting tools)
  • Conducts capacity analysis, modeling, and right-sizing
  • Manages capacity reservations and assignments
  • Coordinates the ordering-to-build process
  • Provides consulting and resolution services for capacity-related incidents/service requests
  • Provides cross-training to Support Teams to ensure proper triage of capacity issue
  • Communicates future capacity requirements to vendor management group using capacity plan output from capacity planning analysts
  • Communicate to platform owners and LOBs on long-term capacity infrastructure requirements all other technologies
  • Provides consulting services on all other technologies to project teams on feasibility, best-practices, and standards; engaged by Design Leads & PMs as required in all phases of business projects
  • Tracks relevant performance metrics
  • Manages inventory of licenses for monitoring tools as well as all other technologies/platforms
  • Designs, develops, and manages/maintains tools used exclusively by Capacity team

Requirements or Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Infrastructure Capacity Planning/Management role for server and storage
  • Understanding of Storage Networking concepts: SCSI, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, CIFS, NFS
    3. Exposure with recent working knowledge of virtualized server hosting environments (e.g. Power and ESX)
  • Working experience with hardware and software storage products and solutions, including Hitachi, Cisco, Brocade, EMC, NetApp and IBM
  • Knowledge of Middleware (ie. Websphere, Tomcat, IIS, etc…) and Database (SQL, Oracle, DB2, etc...) an asset.
 
Nice to have skills
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills (Excel, Visio, PPT, Word)
  • Experience and scripting knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems an asset.
  • Database scripting experience an asset.

Our client has a requirement for Infrastructure Architect for a 12 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Scarborough.
Provide infrastructure architecture leadership and enterprise level consulting to the organization on the development of a quality, integrated and rationalized infrastructure environment across the company. Lead the development of a cross functional view of the enterprise infrastructure to create the strategic plan. Create enterprise infrastructure architecture strategies, blueprints and standards. Establish governance processes to ensure compliance. Liaise with Solution Design, Operations and Solution Support functions internally to ensure objectives being met.
SKILLS: Knowledge of concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies. Thorough knowledge of organization's IT environment including vendor software and relationships.
Specific knowledge of the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) platform and related technologies are essential for the current position.

Key accountabilities include:
  • The creation and maintenance of infrastructure architecture strategies, blueprints and standards required to define the roadmap of change for these platforms
  • Work closely with Platform Owners to define strategic direction for the technology and ensure alignment with overall Enterprise Strategy
  • Provide architectural guidance to Platform Owners on changing business needs – link between business requirements and ITS capabilities

Our financial services client is looking for an Infrastructure Architect to be involved in and provide the design on all infrastructure projects. 


Accountabilities:
  • Participates as Infrastructure subject matter expert for new technology impacting projects and initiatives.  Includes technical assessment, feasibility, capacity forecasting, availability and secure design, etc.
  • Leads and/or participated in enterprise technology strategies as they pertain to IT infrastructure.  Can put together the IT infrastructure "big picture"
  • Subject matter expertise and lead for new infrastructure-impacting technology projects and initiatives.  Of particular focus will be initiatives, capabilities and technologies around high-availability, cloud computing, virtualization, and internet/mobile infrastructures
  • Leads and/or participates in cross-functional teams in reviewing and recommending  infrastructure architectural design and standards for organization
  • Completes formal assessments and ratings of multiple technical solutions
  • Expected to communicate (written, oral, and diagrammatic) complex technical designs and solutions to a wide-variety of audiences, including non-technical staff
  • Expected to lead and provide innovation in emerging IT and infrastructure emerging technologies, trends, practices, and concepts
  • Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of Infrastructure policies and procedures


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8 years experience in IT; 3 yrs in an Infrastructure/technical architecture or principal technology design consultant role
  • Experience working with enterprise architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF or Zachmann
  • VCP or similar VMWare certification
  • MCSE/MCSA 2008/XP
  • ITIL v. 3 Foundations a strong asset
  • GIAC GISF a strong asset
  • CCNA/DA, CCNP or like networking certifications a strong asset
  • Post secondary technical or business diploma and/or equivalent working experience
  • Microsoft Windows 200X Server - Design & Implementation
  • Microsoft SQL Server 200X - Design & Implementation
  • Microsoft Active Directory 200X  - Design & Implementation

Job Description: 
  • End-to-end infrastructure design and integration of new technology.
  • Participate and support all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis to implementation and operational handoff.
  • Take a leadership position in the design of infrastructure solutions based on the requirements, architectural roadmap and guiding principles. The key deliverables are the detailed design documentation and specifications.
  • Consults on projects with regards to IS infrastructure information to projects including costs, work packages estimation and identification of dependencies.
  • Review and support Business Case and/or Decision Summary development for projects requiring infrastructure change.
  • Ensuring the infrastructure design is implemented appropriately by the implementation team and revisions to configuration specifications are reviewed, approved and documented.
  • Ensuring designs are approved with TransCanada’s design principles, standards and practices.
  • Delivery of design and configuration specifications.


Qualified Candidates will have:
 
Wintel architecture - Microsoft Windows Server Platform - 2003/2008, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, Cluster Services, Microsoft Application Server Platform - IIS 6.0/7.0, SQL Server, MOSS, SCCM, SCOM
             
Key Industry Technologies - Storage (NetApp and EMC), Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V and Citrix) and Network Infrastructure (Cisco, Nortel, Checkpoint, F5, NetScaler)
             
IT Infrastructure design - Ability to independently complete design plans based on identified requirements which include Bill of Materials, conceptual overview, implementation plan, operational support and resourcing   matrices, and pertinent test scripts.


Other:  
  • Proven ability to integrate requirements from varying areas of the enterprise.
  • Proven ability of designing and implementing a solution that meets requirements, complies with organization architectural and cyber security standards, cognizant of current state and future sustainability.
  • Strong technical knowledge of OS, Middleware and Application Server Products and enterprise delivery.
  • Strong systems integration skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
