Our client has a requirement for Software Developer III – Java for a 6 months contract opportunity. The positions are located in Mississauga
Requirements or Qualifications
Qualified Candidates will have:
We are looking for a Senior Developer III-Java to work on various projects supporting Credit Systems. Please submit candidates with strong distributed background with Java development experience (IBM Rational Development Environment). Please indicate is candidate has team lead experience managing junior developers as well as have hands-on experience in coding and design. They must have SOA experience. Host experience is an asset. Candidate with experience in moving from CVS to MKS (source code management) would be given preference as well.
Interviews will take place as soon as qualified candidates have been shortlisted. This requisition will move fast.
Develop and host web enabled and database driven applications in Java. Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver solutions. Design and develop quality solutions for systems issues consistent with project objectives. Develop, implement and maintain solutions that maximize system availability. Periodic scope assistance Oversee other developers. Troubleshoot coding issues. Ensure coding continuity.
A vacancy exists for a senior developer to join the team in the delivery and development of this project and to eventually contribute to future enhancement, support and maintenance post-delivery. Prime responsibility will be to develop detailed design specifications, create and review code and assess impact on other applications. Role will work closely with other team members to ensure consistency in coding standards and approaches and to optimize any synergy and re-use opportunities.
Key accountabilities are:
• Responsible for leading technical aspects of project from inception through to deployment. Participate in analysis and system design specification sessions. Documentation of design options and solutions according to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. Ensure that solutions adhere to development best practices and architectural principles.
• Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver viable solutions. Anticipate obstacles and execute proactive approaches to issues. Active participation in issue resolution.
• Provide detailed development estimates to Project Manager for development effort as well as weekly status reporting and budget forecasting.
• Configuration management for the sub projects within the release.
• Responsible for coding, testing, packaging, deployment and support of builds as code is promoted from development, system, acceptance and production environments. May lead code reviews.
• Work closely with System Test Environment Management Team (STEMT) to ensure that environments are fully functional and that builds are properly deployed.
• Participate in development of test strategy, test plans, test cases and testing efforts (unit testing and integration testing of code).
• Provide technical support to business and testing team during testing phases. Track defects, defect triage and resolution.
• Data set up and environment shake down.
• Coaching / mentoring of junior developers.
• Knowledge transfer within group.
• Ensure required documentation is housed in the project repository and that knowledge transfer has occurred to full time staff upon completion of contract term.
SKILLS:
- Development experience in distributed windows or Java environment. - Experience with SQL, java, J2EE, HTML.
- Managing technical staff with demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Expertise in a large financial institution (bank, insurance company).
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Previous host experiences (IMS, DB2 and COBOL) is an asset.

Quality Assurance Lead / Level 2
Job Description
Quality Assurance/Lead
Our client has a requirement for QA Lead for a 6 month opportunity. The position is located in Toronto.
Qualified Candidates will have:
Deliverables
•The QA Lead will oversee release efforts with the QA Team and Development Teams across the program and determine package and release contents throughout the project delivery cycles.
•Total testing and quality accountability for the closed integrated systems and managing quality assurance at a program level
•Lead and manage (dotted line or direct) the QA team in the testing of:
◦Common Assessment projects including CMHA CAP and the Integrated Assessment Viewer
◦Business applications including MIS and HRIS
•Establish and maintain a centralized and consolidated issue management and quality tracking and reporting system
•Manage release follow-up and root cause analyst as necessary
•Create plans and approaches to continuous improvement of the quality assurance frameworks, including regular checkpoints of automated test tools, functional test tools and reporting on defect tracking tools
•Evaluate and report on the quality of software products and make recommendations for deployment
•Review requirements and designs and develop and document comprehensive test and implementation plans
•Set test schedules and communicate schedules to stakeholders
•Build, configure and execute automated testing and automated regression testing
•Support testers by reviewing work and providing feedback
•Oversee and ensure proper execution of the change management and release gating processes for all projects
Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Minimum of five years experience in successfully leading QA teams in a multi-project environment
•Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders including managing expectations, delivering results under pressure, managing conflicting requirements and gaining buy-in on QA initiatives.
•Experience in planning, organizing and implementing QA protocols
•Knowledge of structured QA methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications.
•Experience with change manage and ticketing systems, specifically Jira and MKS
•Knowledge and experience in the use of automated test tools including QTP
•Knowledge and experience in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; organizational, creativity and perseverance skills; verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills.
•A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
•Experience working in healthcare especially as it relates to Ontario healthcare and the continuing care sector
•A successful track record ensuring client business needs are met, with a track record of providing excellent customer service
•Experience with financial and HR systems including Quadrant HR and Great Plains GP
•Experience working with outsourced development organizations
Nice to have
•Experience with scripting and running test sequences using automated testing tools (e.g. Rational Functional Tester, Winrunner, Quick Test Pro, etc.)

•Experience in the Ontario Continuing Care sector
•Experience in the Ontario healthcare sector
