About the Job

Reporting to an Assistant Vice-President, the successful candidate will lead the Quality Assurance (QA) and Systems Analysis (SA) functions within Group IT.

This individual will be a member of the Group IT leadership team accountable for the delivery of projects and maintenance activities to the Group business unit as well as providing excellent people practices to the members of the Group IT team. The goals of the position are to build a high performing Group QA and SA team, improve the quality assurance and system analysis practices within the company, build and foster great relationships with the Group business area and provide excellent delivery of projects and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads QA and SA efforts in the delivery of projects and maintenance activities to the Group business area
• Builds and maintains a high performing team that leverages individual capabilities and strengths
• Sets direction and vision for quality assurance and system analysis, implements this vision through the delivery of templates, standards, processes and tools
• Collaborates with business leaders on the identification, analysis, recommendation and delivery of solutions to business problems
• Defines quality assurance strategies, plans and schedules as well as leads the creation of system analysis documents, reviews and schedules for projects and maintenance activities
• Provides high level and detailed estimates
• Manages the maintenance request intake, priority setting and delivery process
• Implements/manages use of test automation tools and technologies
• Participates in requirements review and requirements analysis meetings
• Champions QA and SA team in management meetings, departmental meetings and cross departmental meetings

Requirements or Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, College diploma in Computer Science field
• 6+ years in an IT team lead/management position focused on quality assurance and system analysis
• Excellent teamwork and cooperation
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent leadership ability
• Experience partnering with external development and / or quality assurance vendors
• Experience in Agile delivery
• Experience in Group Benefits industry preferred
• Experience with Automation testing process and tools (QTP, Winrunner, and/or TFS)

About the Job

Our GTA client has a requirement for a QA Lead Consultant. This is a 6 month contract located in Toronto.

The services and deliverables to be provided will include the following:

Deliverables :

• The QA Lead will oversee testing efforts with the MIS QA team.
• Responsible for evaluating MIS & HRIS application release contents throughout each of the MIS Project delivery cycles.
• Responsible for end to end project testing effort (including, but not limited to, functional, system, integration, and regression testing), reporting and escalation
• Work with vendors, business teams, infrastructure, security & privacy to analyze release documents and lead creation, review and signoff of quality assurance/testing related deliverables (test strategy, test plans, test scenarios/cases, test reports, testing project plans, execution metrics, etc.)
• Total testing and quality accountability for the closed integrated systems and managing quality assurance at a MIS Program level
• Lead and manage (dotted line or direct) the MIS QA team in the testing of Business applications including MIS and HRIS
• Manage the planning and execution of application testing efforts, including all associated resources to meet committed delivery dates
• Establish/maintain a centralized & consolidated issue/defect management reporting system
• Manage release follow-up and root cause analysis as necessary
• Create strategy to continually improve the quality assurance framework
• Evaluate & report the quality of software products & make recommendations for deployment
• Set test schedules and communicate schedules to stakeholders
• Ensures that approved scope changes are communicated and shared across various teams
• Work closely within the Change Management Process to assess impact to testing
• Ensure entry/exit criteria for each test phase is fulfilled & coordinate required signoffs
• Support testers by reviewing work and providing feedback
• Work with team through coaching/mentoring to ensure tasks are completed on time
• Oversee and ensure proper execution of the CCIM change management and release gating processes for all MIS Projects

Qualifications Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Minimum of five years experience in successfully leading QA teams in a multi-project environment
• Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders including managing expectations, delivering results under pressure, managing conflicting requirements & gaining buy-in on QA initiatives
• Experience in planning, organizing and implementing QA protocols
• Knowledge of structured QA methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications.
• Experience with change management & ticketing systems, specifically Jira & MKS
• Knowledge and experience in the use of automated test tools including QTP
• Knowledge and experience in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; organizational, creativity and perseverance skills; verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills.

Our client has a requirement for QA Manager for a 3 months contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto, Ontario.


Requirements or Qualifications

We are looking for a QA Manager who will also be required to perform testing along with their team. This is a contract to FT hire role; contract to hire after 3 months. The role will also require the manager to perform testing along with their team. The candidate will collaborate with business and technology leads, as well as operators and developers within the organization. There is no direct report but they will need to oversee and control the entire testing cycle and manage the entire process along with other QA Managers. Team lead experience is a must have.

Experience with Capital Market is preferred or experience in Financial Services experience. Excellent communication skills are critical to this project.


Accountabilities

•Day-to-day responsibilities include management of a testing team responsible for performing regression and new functionality testing for all systems required to deliver a project.
•Candidate must be proficient in various QA/testing methodologies including test case/scenario development, script development, execution, and defect tracking. A good understanding of SDLC best practices is also required. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
•Formulate detailed testing strategy and detailed test plans, including estimating effort and duration, identifying test environments, number of cycles of testing, types and levels of testing that are required.
•Actively contribute to estimation and planning, risk assessment, contingency planning, tracking and management of progress, issues, risk, and resources.
•Estimate and obtain management support for the time, resources and budget required to perform the testing.
•Develop and execute detailed functional, performance, integration and regression test cases, and documentation.
•Ensure test process, methodologies, and tools are applied appropriately and that test phase entry/exit criteria are agreed to by stakeholders and applied by the test team.
•Provide effective and timely communication to the project delivery teams, operating and executive steering committees.
•Prioritize testing tasks based on goals and risks of projects and ensure testing milestones, activities and tasks are completed as scheduled.
•Ensure the timely delivery of different testing milestones.
•Develop test cases, scenarios, and scripts to ensure quality applications.
•Execute tests and ensures results achieve documented goals and objectives.
•Execute test scripts using test tools following the defined testing methodology.
•Coordinate with the Infrastructure teams that will be responsible for executing application load and stress testing.
•Work closely with development and systems teams to re-generate scenarios in the test environment, capture logs and provide root cause analysis.
•Lead the testing team in using test tools, defect tracking tools and other test support tools and identify and implement process improvements where applicable.
•Track and prepare the quality metrics report of testing activities like testing results, test case coverage, required resources, defects discovered and their status, performance baselines etc.
•Report the status of test planning, defects and execution activities, including regular status updates to the project team using quality metrics.
•Communicate and manage expectations of the senior management team and affected stakeholders during the planning and rollout of project releases.
•Ensure all sign offs on deliverables (overall test strategy, test plan, test cases, etc.) and that testing meets governance requirements.
•Prepares / updates the metrics dashboard at the end of a phase or at the completion of project.

•Establish centralized and consolidated issue management and quality tracking reports
•Analyze software requirements and provide feedback.
•Develop and document comprehensive test and implementation plans
•Set and execute test schedules and communicate schedules to stakeholders
•Create plans and approaches to continuous improvement of the quality assurance frameworks, including regular checkpoints of automated test tools, functional test tools and reporting on defect tracking tools
•Build, configure and execute automated testing and automated regression testing
•Evaluate and report on the quality of software products and make recommendations for deployment
