Our client has a requirement for a WebSphere Middleware SME for an eighteen (18) month contract opportunity. The position is located in Mississauga.
Role
The ideal candidate will work at a senior level to provide UNIX and Windows test environments and support for e-business applications. Additionally the will be gathering and analyzing project requirements for the creation and support of distributed test environments on AIX and Windows platforms and work closely with project managers, user communities and other partners to ensure the successful implementation of products/changes into the production environment. In addition, the candidate will provide consultation and analysis to identify process improvements that will reduce test time and cost as well as improve quality, accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
•Gathering and analyzing project requirements
•Identifying, estimating and tracking deliverables required for a project
•Preparation of and deploying WebSphere and Windows Applications
•Code management in the 'locked down' environment for system testing
•Trouble shooting problems (such as environment, hardware, WebSphere, performance, etc)
•Creating and maintaining documentation in support infrastructure
•Maintaining and analyzing development server performance
•Coordinating and scheduling environment upgrades
•Building and managing working relationships with external vendors
•Team Technical lead on medium to large scale projects
•System capacity planning and maintenance is a key aspect of this role.
•Proactive maintenance.
Requirements or Qualifications
Qualified Candidates must have:
•Excellent UNIX (AIX preferred) experience
•Excellent Windows Server 2000 and 2003 admin experience
•Experience with WebSphere 5, 6 and 7
•Excellent analytical skills
•Excellent communication skills
•High degree of multitasking
•Thorough understanding of PMLC and SDLC processes
Nice to have:
•HPUX experience a definite asset
•IIS experience would be an asset
•Working knowledge of SQL, Oracle or DB2
•Apache/Tomcat experience
•Project management and negotiation experience would be an asset.
•System Capacity Management experience.
•Exposure to SOA based apps would be an asset.
