Job Description

Our GTA client has a requirement for a Systems Analyst for a 6 months contract position located in Toronto.

Deliverables

•Serving as lead virtualization SME and consulting with architecture and security teams to develop virtualization strategy for key validated solutions

•Experience with Physical to Virtual (P2V) migration tools.

•Develops technical strategies for the application of new technologies and provides analysis on the system impacts related to the potential implementation of such activities.

•Recommends the selection of tools to assist organizations in delivering services.

•Participates in business process re-engineering to understand the impacts of technology on the broader system.

•Develops business cases as required for the analysis and evaluation of a variety of solution options within the context of the project.

•Develops technical specifications to support functional specifications in collaboration with business analysts.

•Performs a variety of data analysis tasks to understand system implications and impacts.

•Responsible for liaising with vendors for supporting the development of technical specifications as required.

•Provides support activities for technical stakeholders with varying degrees of technical knowledge.

•Contribution to test criteria definition and problem resolution.

•Configuring various IT environments that will support the application; e.g. network, server, testing, QA, and production

•Assist in the development of program wide technical standards and artifacts

•Assist in the design, development and testing of application components, interfaces and integrations

•Document existing systems capabilities (user interfaces, functionality, data and reports) as configured and delivered and develop procedure, operation and support processes and manuals

•Gather appropriate business and technical stakeholder input for design issues and options

•Assist in other aspects of the project including the implementation of infrastructure components

•Project process automation and operational automation

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

•3+ years hands on experience building, maintaining and supporting a VMware virtualized infrastructure

•Multiple years IT infrastructure experience specializing in infrastructure virtualization

•Proven experience architecting virtual infrastructure solutions

•Track record of successful delivery of major transition/infrastructure deployment projects

•Deep understanding and hands-on experience with the VMWare technology stack

•Strong hands-on technical experience with enterprise technologies such as datacenter and network (SAN, AD, DNS, etc)

•Experience with WAN and LAN technologies

•Experience in network design and architecture

•Experience with the creation of Infrastructure Design Documents

•Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis of Infrastructure and Application Issues

•Expertise in Citrix Technology (XenApp and Netscaler)

•Proficient in Evaluating New/Recommended Technologies and/or Solutions

•Ability to independently manage assignments

•Experience in technical specifications development and system analysis (as appropriate to the specified experience level).

•Understanding of business and system modeling techniques/tools.

•University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent working experience

•Experience in one or more of the following areas:

(a) Business process re-engineering.

(b)  Development of technical specifications.

•Experience in structured methodologies for the identification of user requirements and the development of technical specifications.

•Awareness of emerging IT trends and technologies.

•Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.

•Foundation and practical experience of ITIL

•A team player with a proven track record for meeting strict deadlines.

•Experience in a healthcare environment.

•Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.

Other  

•Provide after-hours and on-call support and implementation, as required

Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for Intermediate Systems Administrator for a permanent opportunity.  The position is located in Calgary, Alberta.

Requirement or Qualifications:

• Install, setup, and monitor systems. Perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to ensure systems performance meets company and user requirements.
• Administer, develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures necessary to ensure the security and integrity of the corporate systems
• Configure, manage, monitor and troubleshoot systems such as servers, virtual infrastructure, Citrix, backup systems, directory services and SAN infrastructures
• Work with manufacturers/partners/vendors to evaluate, design, implement, and troubleshoot systems
• Evaluate and/or recommend system hardware, peripheral equipment, and software
• Perform software and application installation, and upgrades
• Monitor and investigate system problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions and provide remediation plans for optimization and problem resolution
• Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations and devise plans to ensure proper scalability
• Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions and implement fixes
• Implement system security such as configuring host firewalls, system lockdown, applying cryptography to communication end-points, managing host security
• Vulnerability assessment on systems and remediation to comply with best practices
• Continuous review of logs to capture anomalies/trends/attacks/misuse of resources
• Develop and conduct various training and instructions for system users; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed
• Document system problems and resolutions for future reference
• Document procedures and step-by-step guides relating to job activities
• Document and maintain licenses for department/organization

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist department team members with tasks if required
• Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members
• On-call rotation
• Be involved in after-hours maintenance activities

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field
• 7+ years experience in Information Technology of which at least 3 years are in an Intermediate Systems Administration role
• Microsoft Certification is a plus (MSCA, MCSE or MCITP)
