Technology Architect

Our client has a requirement for Technology Architect for a 2 month opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto.

 

Responsibilities

The required resource will be responsible for the development/updating of the following architectural related artefacts per OPS Enterprise Corporate Architecture requirements and standards:

• Solution Pattern Match
• Logical Application Deployment Model
• Disaster Recovery View
• Quality Level Metrics
• Physical Deployment Model (with QLM and DRV) Operating Schedule

 

Scope of Service and Deliverables

• Conduct information gathering workshops and interviews
• Development / updates of Information architectural artefacts as assigned by CAC Enterprise Architect through Architectural Checkpoint 2. These include development/updates of all required artefact per Government of Ontario Information Technology Standards (GOITS) 56 for business and information architecture (application and technical/ security

 
Qualifications

• Produce all identified artefacts for Zachman Rows 3 and 4;
• Provide design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy
• Use enterprise level application standards and design custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features
• Produce software architecture and design document (logical and physical) as per the templates provided by the Cluster
• Review functional and non-functional requirements for the environment and the application
• Work closely with all systems analysts during the design review sessions to provide instruction and recommendations on best coding design, impacts and options
• Work closely with business analysts and quality assurance analysts to confirm that the application code meets business and system
• Present for cluster and corporate architecture review and approval requirements outlined in detailed design during the analysis and user acceptance, testing, and implementation phases of the development lifecycle
• Provide accurate estimates for newly proposed functionality/enhancements and review the estimates from other team members for completeness and accuracy
• Participate in all phases of the systems development lifecycle from analysis and design, development and coding, acceptance testing, and implementation and work
• Experience in Zachman Row 3 and 4 artefacts
• Experience in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) design and development, object orientated applications and object oriented analysis and design
• Fluent on Rational Unified Process Design artefacts; e.g. Statecharts, Class Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, Component Diagrams
• Ability to apply design concepts - layered architectures, components, interfaces, messaging and patterns
• Strong understanding of both traditional System Development Life Cycle as well as Software as a Service

Requirement or Qualifications:

Required:

• University degree at the Bachelor level in Computer Science or Engineering/ Applied Science in one of the following disciplines:  Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, technologist; and a minimum of five (5) years the last eight (8) years were fulfilling the role of an IT Architect; OR University degree at the Bachelor level in Science, Mathematics or Applied Science/ Engineering in a discipline other than listed in paragraph 1; and a minimum of six (6) years in the last nine (9) years fulfilling the role of an IT Architect; OR Community College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering Technology; and
• A minimum of 10 years' experience as an Enterprise, Business or Technology/Technical Architect.
• A minimum of 10 years experience as an architect on Information Technology (IT) system(s).  This experience should be associated with at least one large, complex IT system project of a minimum duration of2 years.  [Note:  a large, complex project involves multiple components, multiple networks, showing that the 10-layer model was taken into account.]

A  minimum of 3 years' experience in the following:

• Architecture Development & Modeling
• Architecture Frameworks such as The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Zachman Framework
• Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)

Experiences in the following are assets:

• Information Exchange & XML Standards
• Unified Modeling Language (1JML)

We are currently seeking a Technical Architect for a 3 month contract opportunity in Toronto Ontario.

Key Responsibilities/Job Functions: • demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in all aspects of OPS business/application/information architecture, strategic architecture planning, and related applications, technologies, tools, methodologies and trends • ability to identify client and user business requirements to develop detailed plans for large scale and complex business architecture projects (Zachman EA) • business architecture experience in complex, multi-project/multi-client environments (Zachman Rows 1-3) -Provides technical leadership to less experienced colleagues -Responsible for the analysis, design, product selection, building and implementation of complex components. -Provides analysis and some review to less senior staff. -Contributes to technical analysis, design, and implementation. -Provides costs relative to solutions. -Develops architecture and integration to support large-scale enterprise initiatives. -Defines project scope, plans and deliverables including cost and timelines. -Leads design initiatives. -Develops and delivers presentations to all levels of the organization, including executive level, as required. -Translates technical specifications to working documents. -Reviews / approves detailed documentation for implementation teams. -Reviews / approves plans for testing requirements for validation of system design. -Applies defined guidelines to effectively manage risks. -Recommends lifecycle / roadmap of complex products. -Work with vendors to develop options and provide recommendations. -Participates in review / development of industry standards. -Contributes to creation and delivery of intellectual capital assets. -Ensures support is available and acts as escalation point for specified technologies. - Extensive experience developing architecture artefacts to satisfy the OPS checkpoint review process including but not limited to; class models, control diagrams and sequence diagrams - Extensive experience in facilitating workshops for the development of business architecture Artifacts - Knowledge of OPS Enterprise Architecture Standards - Knowledge of and experience with Zachman Framework and development of OO Artifacts - Knowledge of existing OPS common components

Experience and Education Preferred: -Expert understanding of one or more: servers, storage, system management, performance analysis, application configuration, database, SAN, LAN, WAN, remote access, security, telephony, messaging (email), automation, desktop systems. -Undergraduate degree required. 5-10 years experience IT architecture and planning; ability to produce IT solutions, both independently and collaboratively. -Experience and/or training related to Architecture & Service Delivery Frameworks (TOGAF, eTOM, ITIL, CoBiT, etc.)

Software Application version:

Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for Technical Architect III for a 6 month contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto.

Requirement or Qualifications:

Qualified Candidates will have:

The ITS UNIX Engineering team provides key services in the execution of business and infrastructure projects. The UNIX Engineering team develops detailed design for the open systems platforms including IBM/AIX, HP UX, Sun/Solaris and INTEL/LINUX. From these detailed designs, the Engineering team implements the required service solutions into development, PAT and the production environments. The UNIX Engineering team provides first level support for non production servers and third level support for the production environment.
Responsibilities include:

•Identify, estimate and track deliverables required by all projects
•Work with project Managers, Architects, other TS partners and ITS partners to complete project deliverables according to project schedule, budget and quality requirements.
•Create RFS’ and SSO/Rivermine requests to install rack and provide network cables and network IP/DNS.
•Design, implement, build and configure new servers with standard OS (AIX and HPUX) along with software bundles and file sets using NIM.
•Install, configure and maintain DB2, Oracle and client applications (ITM, TSM and Cirba)
•Set up, manage and maintain system resources (memory and CPU), file systems, server and application backups, User and Group IDs.
•Debug and automate daily tasks using shell scripting.
•Good knowledge of network connectivity, protocols and ability to configure servers as per standards within the team
•Trouble-shoot system issues and isolate problems using system logs and common monitoring tools like Tivoli & CIRBA.
•Ability to document processes for recoverability as well as BRP by keeping and updating records of server builds and changes.
•Communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met
•Respond to requests for information and assist development teams in evaluating alternate approaches
•Coordinate and schedule system and application environment upgrades and patches.
•Create and maintain documentation in support of team activities and deployments.
•Work effectively as a team, supporting other members of the team in achieving business objectives and providing client services

MUST HAVES:
•5+ years of experience with firewall, security, external connections and server technologies
•5 to 10 years experience (AIX 5.3 and AIX 6.1 operating systems and IBM power server hardware.
•Minimum 5 years experience with Power6 HMC and LPAR configuration
•Is comfortable with working in a rapidly changing, technically complex environment.
•Well organized, self motivated as well as a team player.
•Ability to articulate complex technologies into business terms
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
