Job Description:

Our client has a requirement for Systems Engineer – Middleware NIL for a permanent opportunity.  The position is located in Calgary, Alberta. The position is a part of the LEISC team working under a senior level engineer. The person in this role is expected to provide support to the Sr. Engineer as well as broaden the technical knowledge of the team.

Requirement or Qualifications:

Qualified Candidates will have:

-          Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic or related technical/scientific degree

-          Ability to obtain/hold a valid Canadian Secret Clearance

-          Must be ITAR compliant

-          5+ years of experience in a Systems Engineer position

-          Eligibility to obtain PEng status is highly desirable

-          Familiarity of wireless and infrastructure-based networking principles is an asset

-          Knowledge in emerging technologies and information management is highly desirable

-          Familiarity and recent use of computer-aided engineering tools is an asset

-          Strong experience in service oriented software design, lifecycle and design techniques

-          A strong understanding of the scalability, performance and reliability aspects of software and server applications

-          Familiarity of VHF, HF, UHF and networking systems

As a Systems Engineer you will be supporting current systems and future enhancements through analysis, definition, design, and documentation of requirements and needs. You will apply your engineering expertise to assigned tasks including leading and performing technical analysis and document in trade studies, technical papers, interface or design documents, emphasizing how the design integrates with the rest of the system.

• Frequency spectrum management with technical or commercial radio systems
• Eligible to obtain a Government SECRET security clearance

Nice to Haves:

• Knowledge of wireless and infrastructure-based networking principles
• Experience working with computer-aided engineering tools
• Familiar with Canadian Land Forces Doctrine and Operational Scenarios

• Experience deploying, configuring and supporting applications in high-availability environments
• Previous experience in developing applications and customizing “off the shelf” products, including: Knowledge of Java and / or .NET
• Extensive experience integrating different vendor products to provide an overall solution.
• Object Oriented architectures, architecture and programming experience
