QA lead for a 6 months contract opportunity is available now in North York.

Responsibilities:

1. Overall responsible/accountable for QA deliverables as outlined in the client methodology and as required by Projects
2. Single point of contact for QA/Testing activities on project working closely with Project Manager, Business Analysts, Development, Architecture and Operations teams
3. Planning and estimation of effort and resources required for projects.
4. Leading QA Analysts/Testers activities throughout Test Preparation and Test Execution phases.
5. Overall managing/tracking/reporting of Test activities for project
6. Ensure QA processes and practices are followed and adhered throughout project life cycle
7. Understand and identify interdependencies of the system changes and provide appropriate risk analysis of the impact to quality and testing efforts

This position requires a demonstrated level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects.

• Proficient knowledge and detailed understanding in the areas of Quality Assurance and Software Testing practices, standards and principles
• Proficient knowledge and detailed understanding of software development life cycle and methodologies
• Expert analytical and organizational skills, a team player
• Detailed understanding of System Integration Testing, Functional Testing, Regression Testing, Performance and Automation testing and other test types
• Proficient knowledge and proven experience in leading QA/Testing activities for large software integration projects
• Proven experience leading/managing/delegating/tracking activities of QA analysts and Testers
• Proficient knowledge of test management tools such as HP Quality Centre
• Working experience with software testing tools such as Toad, QTP, SoapUI,
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
• Proficient knowledge of SQL, Oracle and other relational databases
• Working knowledge and experience in Retail sector preferred
• Strong relationship management skills
• Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with colleagues including senior management.
• Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
• Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
• Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required

 

Requirement:

• 5 + years experience as QA Lead working with large, complex, integrated systems
• 5+ years experience testing high volume transaction-based, enterprise-wide systems
• 5+ years testing experience with web-based, N-Tier architecture, high transactional systems
• 5+ years managing/guiding Testing Resources through project cycles in areas of testing principals, meeting deadlines, problem resolution.
• 5+ years leading QA/Testing for large scale projects where the need to provide effort estimations and resource assignments were involved.
• Working experience and leading testing efforts using SOA based architecture and Web Services
• Working experience and leading testing efforts with Data Warehouse and ETL processes
• Working experience in SQL scripting, VB scripting
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or applicable business discipline or equivalent from a recognized institution
• Working knowledge and experience in Retail sector preferred
• Understanding of Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Warehouse management or POS systems is an asset

Certificates, Licenses or Registration:

CSQA, CSTE certifications would be an asset, but not required

• Responsible for implementing quality assurance programs.
• Work with QA Analysts and Developers to ensure that all aspects of the system have proper testing coverage and overall system reliability, performance and quality.
• Comply with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC) by participating in scope assessment, risk and cost analysis.
• May coach, lead and mentor other team members.

• Deliver effective and efficient testing solutions by meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, and adhering to development and quality standards.
• Analyze the testing needs and develop testing strategy and plans.
• Review and approve test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures such as database impacts, software scenarios or usability.
• Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance or completeness and/or to mitigate risks.
• Ensure application documentation is complete and maintained/ updated in a timely fashion.
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills:

• 5 to 7 years experience
• Experience with Remedy 8.1 (candidate without this skill will not be considered)
• Good communications skills

 

Education/Experience.

• Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field

MS Project 2010 is a must have as this candidate would need create a project plan.

Our client has a requirement for a QA Lead for a seven month contract opportunity. The positions are located in Toronto, Ontario.


Requirements or Qualifications

•Very Strong knowledge and Strong proponent of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies including Iterative/Agile methodologies
•Very Strong Knowledge of and understanding of testing methods in an object-oriented environment
•Strong working experience in managing and executing large Integration Test projects in a multi-tiered environment
•Strong project management skills
•Ability to define Risks and perform risk analysis as they relate to QA/QC activities and provide mitigation strategy for identified risks
•Minimum of 10 years experience in leading Software Quality Assurance and Quality Control and testing architecture aspects in delivering large and complex projects, following formal SDLC
•Experience in working with XML, SQL, Oracle, HL7, IBM Mainframe, Java based applications
•Experience in using Testing and Automation Tools – preferably IBM Rational Test Suite of tools
•Experience in Application Security testing
•Knowledge of Healthcare IT systems and technical requirements.
•Ability to utilize strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and writing skills to successfully interact with a variety of audiences
•A University degree in computer science or equivalent from a recognized institution.
