Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for Application Development & Support – Oracle/Cognos for a 12 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Calgary.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- An operational support role in the Accounting area: Budget/Forecasting and Project Management; and,
- Primary Applications include: Oracle Projects, Cognos Planning with secondary support of several other vendor and in-house applications.

Requirement or Qualifications:
- Proficient experience with Oracle database v10: Tables, views, materialized views, indexes, stored procs, packages, triggers, PL/SQL, triggers, and SQLPlus;
- Basic to intermediate level experience with Solaris 10 preferred;
- Proficient experience with Korn shell (ksh) scripting, cron, basic file permissions;
- Proficient Windows application server knowledge for Cognos Planning;
- Windows Script host (VBS / WSH), DOS Batch programs, Scheduled Tasks;
- Oracle Financials / Oracle e-Business Suite knowledge and experience – v12.0.4;
- Oracle Discoverer knowledge and experience;
- Proficient experience with Cognos Planning – v8.4FP2;
- The ability to understand the interfaces, interconnects, and dependencies between the systems;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- The ability to coordinate with other groups and being an “information hub” for various groups;
- Understanding the layered nature of hardware and software from storage, through server, network, operating system to application and web front end / client software;
- Good / excellent troubleshooting skills for complex problems;
- The ability to work collaboratively with both internal IT groups and business and external vendor groups; and,
- Detail-oriented and ability to see the big picture.
