Requirement:

• Proficient in architecting/designing/developing multi-tiered secured business solutions within a Services-Oriented-Architecture for high availability, scalability and performance
• Object oriented modeling, design and development
• Expert in current and legacy platform specific programming languages and environments such as: Java/J2EE, Microsoft ,NET Framework, COBOL/RPG
• Expert in SOA technology and protocols such as SOAP, WSDL, WS-Security and UDDI
• Understanding of enterprise, network, infrastructure and database architecture
• Understanding of industry relevant standards such as ESG or FIX within banking, or IHE Profiles within Health (as examples)
• Expert in standard development methodologies such as RUP, XP and/or Agile
• Strong understanding or previous experience in process-driven software development lifecycles and quality methods such as CMM or Six Sigma

 

 

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree in business, computer science or related disciplines
• 10+ years IT Industry experience in application architecture/design and development
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization and leadership skills with the ability to facilitate technical session
• Can communicate in both technical and business terms
• Ability to multi-task
• Previous experience in industry relevant applications
• Experience in and comfortable working in an abstract matrix organization, and working with various groups, including development, testing, operations and business development to advocate the architecture standards and enforcement
• Evidence of continued professional development in areas related to architecture definition and development

Resource Responsibilities:

• The Architect will work in Winnipeg with a project team to design, and to provide technical oversight of the implementation of a solution for our Marketing Planner initiative.
• The Architect will be responsible for defining and documenting the solution that is expected to include the vendor software, our ETL environment, our web environment, and integration with our existing applications.
• The resource will work closely with the associated Portfolio Systems Architect to ensure the solution aligns with portfolio and enterprise architecture plans.
• The resource should also have the skills and experience to provide technical leadership to other members of the team.
• The project is expected to comprise a complex solution with multiple integration points and resulting issues.
• Technical leadership will be needed for working with the various technical groups to ensure the solution is progressing to plan, and helping work through technical issues and decisions as they arise.
• It will also be necessary to work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that issues are escalated where needed, and that the technical resources required are made available to the project.
• Time permitting, the Architect might also be asked to take on a concurrent, smaller project.
• This project is to upgrade the OpenText software used in our Digital Marketing environment.
• The Architect’s duties will include assessing the current infrastructure to ensure it’s adequacy for the upgrade, designing the upgrade environment and strategy, working with the team’s QA staff to provide a technical understanding of the system to guide their testing, completing appropriate deliverables and reviewing those produced by others, and keeping the Project Manager apprised of technical matters and issues on the project.
• In general, Architects at client need to be having broad experience working with large, complex, inter-dependent systems in a large corporate environment.
• Need to be excellent communicators, collaborators, and leaders who can work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualified Candidates will have

• 5 or more years experience writing code with an emphasis on Microsoft.NET Technologies including VB.net, C#, ASP.net, XML, IIS, SQL Server, Java, C, C++, etc. Advanced ability to work with Web-development tools for new applications.
• Advanced understanding (2 years) of SharePoint.
• Advanced understanding of RDBMS databases such SQL Server.
• Advanced understanding of modern software design and development methodologies (e.g., OO).
• Experience on multiple full release project life cycles. Advanced understanding of modern SCM (software configuration management).
• Advanced understanding of testing tools and unit test and integration test scripting, and testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of the features and architectural design of MOSS 2007 and SharePoint2010, Windows SharePoint Services, InfoPath, and Windows Workflow Foundation.
• Thorough understanding of Enterprise Portals, Collaboration Tools, Enterprise Search, Document & Content Management, and Forms-based Business Process.
• Completed post secondary education with a majority of course work focused on computer sciences or related experience.
• Advanced understanding of project methodologies and experience in all stages of a solution development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience with UML techniques
• Experience with UAT techniques
• Microsoft developer certifications (MCSD, MCDBA, MCTS) Certified SharePoint Developer, Certified SharePoint Administrator, etc) are desirable, but not required.
• Other supporting qualifications: BizTalk, InfoPath, Exchange, Office Communications Server, MS SQL Server, MS Active Directory.
