Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a Senior Programmer Analyst for a 2 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto.

Requirements:

The Programmer Analyst will be responsible for the design, coding and production implementation of high-quality application software solutions. The Programmer Analyst will work in a team environment to implement business requested enhancements or IT identified solutions. You will be efficient in technology and knowledge of software development methodologies/techniques, and have working experience in development of multi-tier business applications. You will have the ability to make technical modifications and provide the business with solutions that will meet their needs (user acceptance).

Qualified Candidates will have:

Knowledge and practical experience programming in the UNIX environment with the following programming languages and development tools: 

• PRO*C with embedded SQL
• PL/SQL
• Korn shell scripts
• Oracle stored procedures (particularly with oracle 9.x, 10.x and 11.x)

Knowledge and practical experience of more than one of the following programming languages and development tools would be an asset:

• C# with .NET and Visual Studio technical skills and knowledge
• ASP.Net, CSS, HTML, XML and Javascript
• Crystal Reports
• Mainframe development and technical skills:
• PL/1
• SAS
• DB2/SQL, SPUFI
• IMS DB/DC
• TSO/ISPF, MVS/ESA, FILEAID, ENDEVOR
• SYNCSORT
• JCL

Knowledge and practical experience of the following source control systems would be an asset:

• PVCS
• CVS
• TFS
• ENDEVOR

Our client has a requirement for a Programmer Analyst for a five (5) month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Ottawa.

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

•  Demonstrated experience working with a Federal Government of Canada department within the last three (3) years.
• Minimum of six (6) months demonstrated experience managing Teams of developers using MS-Visual Studio Team Foundation System.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and writing user requirements, functional specifications, technical specifications, and fit/gap analyses
• Secret Security Clearance
• A  minimum of six (6) months demonstrated experience using MS-Visual Studio Team Foundation System in a development role
• Demonstrated experience developing or integrating applications using at least one (1) of the following domain models: Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Model Driven Architecture (MDA) and/or Domain Driven Design (DDD) in a Federal Government of Canada department where these have been formally implemented.

Nice to Have:

A minimum of two (2) years within the last five (5) years of demonstrated experience using the following coding environment:

a) C#, ASP.NET

b) Visual Basic .NET

c) Extensible Markup Language (XML)

d) JavaScript

•Work with a project manager in developing a strategy and approach to address the replatforming requirements related to the VAX system;
•Document programs and processes for each of the projects and identify impacted systems;
•Create technical Documentation, develop code, test, support and trouble shoot objects to facilitate the processing of cheques;
•Support integrated testing of newly developed code; and recommend best practices related to payment processing


MANDATORY SKILLS:

The Consultant must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following skills, activities, or areas. The knowledge and experience must have been gained through work on a project(s) similar in size and scope to this project. The following skills are mandatory:


1.Mainframe MVS (4+ years);
2.OS/390 MVS (4+ years);
3.PL1 (4+ years);
4.COBOL OS VS (4+ years);
5.COBOL (5+ years); and
