Role Overview
  • Supervises and provides technical direction to subordinate engineers, specialists, scientists, designers and drafters.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
  • Requires a good knowledge of administrative practices and supervisory experience.

Duties include the following:
  • Supervise the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers and designers
  • Reviewing and approving key engineering drawings, calculations, and documents
  • Coordinate assigned engineering work with other project groups
  • Estimate staffing needs and schedules and assign work to meet schedule need dates
  • Conduct performance appraisals in accordance with approved procedures
  • Coordinate with client representatives as required to obtain their review and approval of phases of work

Candidate must have:
  • Experience and technical skills related to mechanical systems and specifications for nuclear power plant equipment.
  • Working knowledge of MAP-101, P&IDs, ProjectWorks, TeamWorks, InfoWorks, Standard Numbering System, ESA, and BecWeb resources.
  • Must work efficiently and accurately in a chaotic, deadline driven environment.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required to support project schedules.
  • Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards along with technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment.

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years engineering experience, including three to four years nuclear plant system design.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited college or University.
  • Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years engineering experience, including five to six years of nuclear
  • Plant system design
  • Previous Supervisory experience
  • Masters degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License

Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for Civil Yard Facility Engineer for a contract or perm opportunity.  The position is located in Seoul, Korea.
This position is for a Senior Civil Engineer performing site development and yard facility design.
This individual will work within the end-client organization and functionally report to the client's nuclear power design group located in the US.

 
Position duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Plans and coordinates independent work requiring judgment and experience in the application and substantial adaptation of engineering techniques.
· Site excavation and backfill design and construction specifications
· Preparing calculations for building foundation design, tanks & electrical equipment foundation design & cooling water intake and discharge structure design
· Devises new approaches to technical problems.
· Knowledgeable of and performs standard civil discipline engineering activities with minimal technical oversight.
· Coordinates technical issues with other departments including client or home office personnel.
· Provides technical direction for specific tasks and assigns work to subordinate engineers, designers or project sub-groups.
· Provides expert technical guidance within the civil discipline utilizing industry precedents and regulatory requirements.
· Experience in the preparation of civil specifications and associated equipment technical evaluations.
Successful candidate will have proven experience in all aspects of civil engineering for nuclear power plant licensing, design, construction and startup.

Basic Qualifications
· Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an accredited University.

· Professionally registered engineer.
· Candidate must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain an unescorted access clearance to a nuclear power plant facility.

· Candidate must be willing to work in the client office in Korea for greater than 1 year.
Preferred Qualifications

Requirement or Qualifications:
Qualified Candidates will have:

  • A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline from a recognized licensing board, or a sufficient number of specialized courses in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline to meet the job requirements, and extensive progressive work experience in the specialty.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience related to startup of a facility and equipment operations or other relevant experience such as construction, engineering, field engineering or operations in industrial, process or utility facilities.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in startup and commissioning of electrical equipment;
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to utility scale electrical systems such as ANSI/IEEE C50, IEEE C57, IEEE 115, NETA Guidelines, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact closely and frequently with project management and client operations and maintenance personnel while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
  • Must be able to walk at least 3 miles per day over uneven ground, be able to climb and descend stair towers 100’ in height at least 6 times per shift, climb and descend ladders 25’ in height at least 6 times per shift, climb on and maneuver on temporary scaffolds to access project equipment.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the United States.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Electrical Startup Engineer will be assigned systems on the project for which he will have full responsibility for commissioning.  This will require coordinating with mechanical, instrumentation and control systems disciplines within the startup organization to complete all required testing from component level through integrated operation with the rest of the facility.

Job Description
  • The main focus of this assignment will be to commissioning the 4 kV electrical equipment, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and programmable logic controller (PLC) controls associated with the upgrading of the heater drain pumps in each unit.  There are 3 pumps per unit.
  • Development of documentation for system testing and turnover including scoping of drawings and SetRoute as required.  Prepare test packages associated with the modification scope;
  • Develop test plans as required to support engineering change package submittal.
  • Prepare, award and administer specialty subcontracts as required to support commissioning activities (i.e.: meter and relay calibration, etc.).
  • Provide assistance to the client’s training organization to include material required to update O&M training materials for the modification.
  • Prepare system preoperational test procedures for assigned systems.  Complete testing per STCP’s, SWPP’s, Preop procedures and other specific procedures which may be required to be prepared in this position.  Complete all test records, data sheets, etc. to fully document testing activities.
  • Coordinate with and provide direction to supplier Technical Assistants to complete commissioning of vendor supplied equipment.  Monitor supplier TA activities to ensure proper charging of TA time (i.e.:  ensure company is not charged for TA time spent addressing the vendor’s own issues).  Plan work accordingly and control the expenditure of TA time to stay within the budget constraints for each PO.
  • Prepare FCD/RFI/NCR/DR’s as required to document as-built conditions and/or properly resolve deficiencies.
  • Supervise field non-manual personnel as required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Supervise field manual craft as required to perform assigned tasks; monitor and control craft performance and be accountable to the performance factor as reported by the QURR.
  • Participate in system turnover walkdowns, both Construction and Client turnovers; initiate, track and resolve punchlist items for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work hours as required, including shiftwork, overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary to support the project.
  • Perform other duties as directed in support of project activities.
  • Expected assignment duration is approximately 12 months at the jobsite near MN, USA. The individual will be put on a different project following this. The project is an extended power uprate (EPU) of 2 Westinghouse PWR units.

The Control Systems Engineer's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Walk-down of existing plant equipment
  • Generation of walk-down packages
  • Review system performance and provide recommendations to clients
  • Perform engineering studies
  • Support refueling outages
  • Support design change installation
  • Perform design change package closeout
  • Interact with clients and the home office design team
  • Review of supplier documentation

Basic Qualifications
  • Candidates must have minimum ten years of control systems design engineering experience, five years of which are in nuclear power engineering
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering or other related engineering field
  • Candidates must currently possess the eligibility to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Candidates must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain unescorted clearance to a nuclear power plant.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Candidate must be able to travel to nuclear and supplier facilities.
  • Familiarity with design basis requirements, including general design criteria, regulatory guides and industry standards

Preferred Qualifications
  • General understanding of BWR and PWR systems
  • Design experience of digital control systems such as ABB, Emerson (Ovation, DeltaV), GE (Mark VIe), Invensys (Foxboro I/A, TRICONEX)
  • General understanding of software controls, cyber security regulations, and IP networking
  • General understanding of EQ program
  • Proficiency in PassPort, SharePoint, and eRoom
  • Power up-rate experience
  • Current Professional Engineering License
  • Work experience in system engineering, engineering programs, engineering support to maintenance/operations, licensing, work planning, engineering configuration control, and/or constructions.

  • Working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines.
  • Understands standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating, and conducts independent work requiring judgement in the application of engineering techniques. Normally uses conventional approaches to technical problems encountered.
  • Provides technical direction and training to other technical staff that assist in performing specific assignments.
  • Receives technical and administrative supervision from the Owner.
  • Plans and coordinates individual work and subordinates (if any) within and outside the discipline including Owner, equipment manufacturers and other departments including construction and start-up. 
  • Individual must be knowledgeable in the codes and standards within the industry and familiar with related construction practice.


Responsible for technical coordination in the production of electrical design drawings, specifications, calculations and design details including but not limited to:
  • Main single line/three line drawings
  • Plant Control Logics
  • System control schematics and logics
  • Wiring diagrams and terminations
  • Quantity tracking databases
  • Equipment and cable sizing calculations
  • Responsible for technical coordination in the production of specifications for electrical equipment in accordance with the project requirements and performance of the related technical evaluations of suppliers and review/approval of equipment design drawings
  • Must work effectively within and outside the client’s disciplines, the Owner’s organization, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
  • Manage the site walk-downs as necessary of the existing plant systems/equipment and development of walk-down packages.

Candidate should have experience with industry regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to the electrical discipline including conformance to Equipment Qualification (EQ), Electrical Separation and Fire Protection.
  • Provides engineering support through construction and start-up of the plant modification


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Minimum 5 years of practical design experience in electrical engineering associated with systems related to operating nuclear facility.
  • Candidate must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain an unescorted access clearance to a nuclear power plant facility.
  • Candidate must be willing to take business trips.

  • System control schematics and logics
  • Wiring diagrams and terminations
  • Quantity tracking databases
  • Equipment and cable sizing calculations
  • Responsible for technical coordination in the production of specifications for electrical equipment in accordance with the project requirements and performance of the related technical evaluations of suppliers and review/approval of equipment design drawings
  • Must work effectively within and outside the client’s disciplines, the Owner’s organization, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
  • Manage the site walk-downs as necessary of the existing plant systems/equipment and development of walk-down packages.

Candidate should have experience with industry regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to the electrical discipline including conformance to Equipment Qualification (EQ), Electrical Separation and Fire Protection.
  • Provides engineering support through construction and start-up of the plant modification


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Minimum 5 years of practical design experience in electrical engineering associated with systems related to operating nuclear facility.
  • Candidate must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain an unescorted access clearance to a nuclear power plant facility.
  • Candidate must be willing to take business trips.
  • Candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Professionally registered engineer (PE) 


Preferred Qualifications
  • Adequate experience in the cable raceway design using standard cable and raceway programs.
  • Minimum of 8 years of practical design experience in electrical engineering within the nuclear power industry.
  • Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE).

Our client has a requirement for a Senior Control Systems Engineer – Site Lead for a perm opportunity.  The positions are located in the United States.

Role Overview
This position is for Control Systems engineering services at nuclear facilities with work location in the United States.
  • Plans and conducts independent work within a global business unit requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problems.
  • Working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines.
  • Understands the standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating, and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the application of engineering techniques. Normally uses conventional approaches to technical problems encountered.


The Control Systems Engineer's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Development of project scope
  • Management of project schedule and budget
  • Walk-down of existing plant equipment
  • Generation of walk-down packages
  • Review system performance and provide recommendations to clients
  • Perform engineering studies
  • Support refueling outages
  • Support design change installation
  • Perform design change package closeout
  • Interact with clients and the home office design team
  • Review of supplier documentation


Basic Qualifications
  • Candidates must have minimum ten years of control systems design engineering experience, five years of which are in nuclear power engineering
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering or other related engineering field
  • Candidates must currently possess the eligibility to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Candidates must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain unescorted clearance to a nuclear power plant.
  • Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Candidate must be able to travel to nuclear and supplier facilities.
  • Familiarity with design basis requirements, including general design criteria, regulatory guides and industry standards


Preferred Qualifications
  • General understanding of BWR and PWR systems
  • Design experience of digital control systems such as ABB, Emerson (Ovation, DeltaV), GE (Mark VIe), Invensys (Foxboro I/A, TRICONEX)
  • General understanding of software controls, cyber security regulations, and IP networking
  • General understanding of EQ program
  • Proficiency in PassPort, SharePoint, and eRoom
  • Power up-rate experience
  • Current Professional Engineering License
  • Work experience in system engineering, engineering programs, engineering support to maintenance/operations, licensing, work planning, engineering configuration control, and/or constructions.
