Role

We are looking for Data Analyst with demonstrated experience and record of successful implementations of Medium to Large Size Java based and Data Conversion related projects. Since this is a unique position, make sure you explain in your cover letter why this job is ideal for you.

• Define relationships between files and data elements according to System Business Rules (Source Data Model)
• Create Excel spreadsheets including all business and technical information about data structure
• Define the range and domains of values for data elements
• Assess Source Data (Data Profiling) to verify Source Data Inventory
• Create Data Cleansing requirements
• Define Data Mapping for Data Cleansing (at data values level)
• Create Source to Staging Mapping based on Data Profiling results and Data Cleansing requirements
• Assess copy of Source data (Data Profiling) to verify suitability of Source data to populate Target tables
• Interact with Business associates to clarify their requirements, data related issues to find a resolution Create Transformation and Conversion requirements
• Provide effort estimates for assigned work tickets
• Complete assigned work
• Provide required Status reports
• Participate in project related meetings, including Daily Stand Ups
• Assist other team members as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

• At least 3 - 6 years of BI, Data Analysis experience
• Experience with Data Profiling, Data Cleansing, Data Mapping
• Experience with SQL and SQL Scripting
• Experience with IBM Infosphere DataStage verion 8.5 or 8.7
• Experience with DB2 UDB, Mainframe DB2, MS SQL Server Databases
• Understanding technical specs for ETL
• Understanding of integration points and the order of their execution
• Post secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
• Strong command of English language
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience utilizing system development lifecycle for large scale projects and system development methodologies such as Agile, Lean, SCRUM, and Extreme Programming

 

Nice to Have

• Experience with Guidewire scripting
• Organized, independent, and proactive
• Great organizational skills and ability to manage several projects at once
• Demonstrated experience applying agile methods in a project management environment
• General awareness of current technologies
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, Project
• Demonstrated understanding of software architecture design and patterns such as SOA, OO, Analysis and Design, Component Architecture, Event/Message Driven
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

Requirement or Qualifications:

Qualified Candidates will have:

Database Analyst

•DB2 (MF and Midrange) DBMS experience
•Oracle DBMS experience
•Data warehousing experience
•Performance tuning experience
•Strong leadership/communication skills

Database Analysts have responsibilities at both the project and corporate technology levels. At the project level, Database Analysts are responsible for modeling data, and designing and implementing databases that store data in a way that meets business service level expectations. At the corporate technology level Database Analysts are responsible for ensuring that database implementations adhere to corporate technology standards, and for the creation and usage of best practices with respect to all aspects of database usage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Works with Systems Analysts and Systems Architects to understand database requirements
•Participates with Systems Analysts in the development of logical data models
•Develops physical data models and database designs
•Constructs test and production databases (adding tables, creating indices, allocating space, etc.)
•Documents and educates other team members on database design and usage
•Provides support for developers, including mentoring on best practices for database usage, and by participating in code walkthroughs
•Ensures quality database implementations from the perspectives of: reliability, availability, adaptability, manageability, maintainability, performance and security.
•Each Database Analyst is expected to coach/mentor others and to focus on continuous learning and personal/professional development.
•Serves in a 1st on call rotation to provide after hours, weekend, and holiday, Database Analyst support to Application Support and Production Services teams


QUALIFICATIONS:

•A good understanding of logical and physical data modeling techniques
•A solid working knowledge of SQL
•Proven application development experience
•At least one year of database design experience using DB2, Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server, IMS or VSAM
•Knowledge of more than one of these databases or MS Access is an asset
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•Ability to act in a leadership capacity with respect to advising on database technology directions on a project or for an account
•A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
•Effective internal consulting skills with a strong customer service orientation
•Attention to detail and effective planning and organizational skills.
