About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Senior Solutions Architect for a 3 Month Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Toronto, ON.

Role

We require a Senior Solutions Architect with a minimum of 5 years experience in a large organization OR with a consulting firm. This individual will be working on multiple projects within the Direct Channels team.

Requirements or Qualifications

• Experience with Architecture Governance (process, decision-making, escalations, stakeholder communication, blueprinting, roadmapping, documentation, etc.).
• He/She must be able to converse with technology and business partners using vocabulary that is tailored to the audience.
• Ability to influence others through strong decision-making, negotiation and presentation skills.5 + years solution architect experience 
• Experience in a large organization OR with a consulting firm. 
• Experience designing web applications 
• Experience designing Enterprise Java solutions 
• Working experience with SOA and experience identifying and consuming Web Services 
• Knowledge of Web2.0
  

Nice To Have

• Prior TD Experience is a strong asset 
• Exposure to TOGAF or Zachman 
• Knowledge of SOAP/XSD/WSDL 
• Knowledge of IBM ESB products (WebSphere DataPower and Enterprise Service Bus) 
• Web content management systems & architecture – specifically SDL Tridion
  Experience with Pega Rules Process Commander

Job Description

Our client has a requirement for a Solutions Architect on a 6-month extendable contract term.  The opportunity is located in Toronto.

IT Architects facilitate and provide directional guidance in the creation, development and delivery of business-driven solutions that makes efficient use of resources. Architects develop and/or align initiatives to roadmaps, assess options, prepare project level blueprints, review SDLC deliverables, and file architectural governance artifacts. Our mission is to maximize business value by balancing strategic architectural direction with speed of delivery, ability to leverage shared services/infrastructure, scalability, flexibility, and availability.

Role of this position

• To provide architecture oversight to the organization on the development and management of highly available, secure, quality, integrated and rationalized technology solutions in the business domain of Credit Cards.
• The primary focus is to develop architectural deliverables for Credit Cards to support the advancement of applications, services and processes within the Technology Solutions projects.
• In addition, the role aligns with the overall Enterprise Architecture strategies and standards in ensuring the organization implements current and sustainable technology solutions.
• The ideal candidate has a strong and proven track record with experience architecting application and technology solutions for programs/portfolios in a complex, large scale mission critical environment.

All candidates must provide:

• Referenceable experience demonstrating knowledge of product and account management, channel-enablement, servicing and operations process expertise in the credit card business.
• Expertise in the applications and technologies to enable a credit card business is critical and mandatory.

The Solutions Architect will play a leadership role in the following:

• Solution Architecture service as required for a large program and/or portfolio of projects
• Development of the North American Credit Card technology architecture
• Implementation of a conversion and integration program
• Building shared components and re-using the shared components according to Enterprise guidelines
• Advisory, promotion and governance of project deliverables against the Technology Roadmap and Enterprise Architecture artifacts
• Thought leadership in overall execution of the technology strategy
• Leadership of program/project initiation as required

The incumbent will perform many of the following Solution and Technical Architecture functions:

• Expertise and counsel at an executive level to ensure technology teams and business areas understand the architectural options and technology choices in support of their business initiatives.
• Holistically assess viability/priority of projects/initiatives across a large program or portfolio of projects and ensure architecture issues are clearly communicated.
• Research/analyze business requirements to evaluate and recommend optimal solutions within technology architecture.
• Influence product/vendor/SI direction and integrate technology from an architectural perspective within the business environment, and fulfill an IT governance role
• Apply industry/technical knowledge to provide solutions that increase business results and/or minimize risk.
• Review/provide direction in the formation of development specifications, technical requirements, system performance objectives and identify system modifications required to meet objectives.
• Participate in pre and post implementation reviews, ensuring all technical solutions have met business requirements.
• Contribute to meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on time, within budget, and adhering to relevant standards.
• Support the development, documentation, communication and execution of a comprehensive strategy, policies and solutions.
