Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for a Service Manager for a 12 month contract opportunity. The position is located in Vancouver, BC.

Role
Our client is seeking a Junior to Intermediate “PM” type with strong organizational skills and an attention to detail. Direct experience working in a Customer Support environment is not absolutely required (although certainly desired) but there would have to be some familiarity through their past work experiences at a bare minimum. The successful candidate will need to have a technical background and not afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive into troubleshooting and problem investigation themselves. However, most of the time I would expect them to be tasking others and following up with inquiries about progress and status.
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage the issues captured in the Issue Management System for the team.
  • Ensure Issues are updated and addressed by assignees in a timely fashion
  • Help manage the task backlog by prioritizing, identifying intermediate goals, and setting realistic timeframes for task completion.
  • Help organize team activities and hold members accountable for assigned tasks
  • Summarize and report on Team activity on a weekly basis
  • Perform the core Service Manager function of managing/responding to issues etc. as a primary responsibility.
  • Performing the support role some of the time
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment with a lot of demands than need to be managed
  • this individual will assist the manager in organizing the team and their efforts so that they are clearly moving forward on two objectives:
    • Addressing and closing issues
    • Progressing on the task backlog

Company Information

PrairieCoast Equipment (PCE) is a Partnership that was formed in November 2009 with the merging of four independent John Deere dealerships.

PCE consists of ten stores located throughout British Columbia and Northern Alberta. We have three stores in Northern Alberta (Grande Prairie, Fairview and LeCrete), one in Northern BC (Dawson Creek), two in the Okanagan (Kamloops and Kelowna), and four throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island (Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Langley and Duncan).

Our primary product line is John Deere agricultural equipment. We also carry John Deere lawn and garden equipment as well as golf and turf equipment. besides our primary product line, we carry many shortlines including Gehl, Stihl and Frontier. Eaach of our ten store locations also sell parts for the equipment we carry and each store has a service department to perform maintenance and repairs to custsomer's equipment.

Service Manager

Are you are looking for a management role with an industry leader where you can represent one of the most recognized brands in North America? As a recently merged dynamic company we are looking for a strong, energetic, dedicated, and knowledgeable individual to lead our service department in our Kamloops dealership.


Summary

The Service Manager is responsible for managing service operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment by optimizing Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. The manager will grow profitable service labor sales and exercise disciplined expense control. The manager will assist the HR manager to attract, retain, and effectively engage department personnel.


Job Duties

•Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
•Creates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives
•Develops and executes Service Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals
•Coordinates customer clinics, field days, and related promotional events
•Submits all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit
•Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge
•Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing
•Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order
•Assists the HR Manger in recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position


Requirements

•Journeyman Mechanic, with Red Seal Certification in HD, Ag or automotive with HD experience
•5+ years experience in Service Department operations
•Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
•Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
•Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
•Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operations
•Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
•Ability to work extended hours and weekends
•Excellent customer service skills
•High School Diploma or equivalent experience
