We are looking for a Senior Developer with expertise in Oracle database development (utilizing PL/SQL) and VB.net/C# development. This individual will mainly be working on application enhancement (including database and reports applications) and the role will be mainly development with a small portion of support. This will be for a release type of project. Previous financial experience would be a nice to have but is not necessary for this position.

Responsibilities

·      Develop applications using .NET, Java, SQL, and UNIX scripting languages according to accepted standards based on user requirements

·      Design and implement solution for capital markets trading operation group and / or finance

·      Write technical specifications and design documents

·      Write and execute functional and regression test cases

·      Assist integration and user acceptance testing

·      Participates in project and team meetings interacting and collaborating with team members and other departments as appropriate

·      Provide analytic and application support for existing and new applications

·      Contributes to successful completion of project deliverables - Provides support to team members and application support analyst

·      Thorough in-depth knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes from both an industry and financial banking

Skills

·      University degree in Computer Science or Engineering-

·      Strong data mapping experience between business and technology is REQUIRED

·      Strong analytical skills for complex problem solving is REQUIRED; experience with database performance tuning would be an asset-

·      Knowledge of capital markets and its operations, or general ledger application / finance knowledge would be an asset

·      Excellent .Net development experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle and/or SQL server)

REQUIRED

·      Working knowledge of Java, C, VB, MS Excel and MS Access would be preferred- Solid shell scripting (Perl, Bourne shell and/or Korn shell) working knowledge and Windows Powershell are assets- 5 + years of hands-on experience with Windows and Linux are REQUIRED -

·      Possesses advanced knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes

·      Demonstrates advanced understanding of the Software Development methodology, software development control, and release procedures SKILLS: -

·      Possesses solid analytical skills for complex problem solving -

·      Is able to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure-

·      Is able to work independently or within a team, and exhibit solid communication skills, both written and verbal-

·      Is able to adapt and quickly develop in-depth technical understanding of new/different applications - Demonstrates solid organizational skills - Possesses advanced understanding of relevant technologies (specifically .NET, Java, SQL, and UNIX scripting languages)

About the Job

Our client within the financial services sector is looking for a Senior Developer to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor junior and intermediate team members in good coding practices and new technologies
• Research and recommend technologies to the team and management
• Design and program high-performance scalable applications and database solutions
• Provide system design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy
• Work closely with systems analysts and QA to develop alternative solutions to meet business needs
• Review code committed by others as requested
• Analyze production system problems and recommend workable solutions
• Investigate and solve production problems with minimal to no guidance
• Be aware of how and when new technologies should be used

Requirements or Qualifications

·  Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field

• A strong technical background with high proficiency in .NET and C# and/or VB.NET with at least 5 years of relevant experience
• A strong working knowledge of ADO.NET, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
• A solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact SQLwith at least 5 years of relevant experience
• A working knowledge of XML and related technologies like XSD, SOAP, and WSDL
• Hands on experience using testing frameworks (ie. NUnit, Visual Studio, xUnit, etc)
• Experience of working as part of an agile team(an asset)
• Experience with Team Foundation Server (an asset)
