Requirements

• Work in collaboration with the Application project team who will be leading the implementation of the software package
• Work with the vendor and the project team to design various infrastructure environments for the system
• Ensure the design meets non-functional requirements of the application
• Ensure the design can scale to meet current and future needs of the application
• Work with specialists to performance-tune the environment to meet application performance requirements
• Establish service levels for the environments, and assist in structuring the organization and technical environment design to be able to report against these service levels
• Develop the System Architecture deliverables as outlined in the approved tailoring of the project delivery methodology including:
• Ensuring functional / technical and engineering requirements are properly identified
• Creating the System Architecture for the infrastructure
• Determining the Implementation Strategy
• Ensuring the infrastructure is built and tested according to the design
• Ensuring the system documentation is complete
• Ensuring Disaster Recovery environment & plans are created
• Review and approv infrastructure architecture related deliverables
• Develop architecture decision requests (as required) and lead the decision-making process for determining the best course of action to follow
• Provide input to the project status reports and steering committee updates.

 

Qualifications

• The project is at the beginning of its infrastructure design phase, and so the Architect will be involved in the full cycle of its design and implementation.
• Will use technologies including IBM Power/AIX servers, Websphere, and Service-Oriented Architectures.

 

The other project will include:

• Have much of the initial versions of its infrastructure designed. However, this project is implementing a much more complex architecture in that its systems must be extremely reliable and, whenever an outage occurs, must be able to recover its diverse systems completely within one hour. This is requiring significant changes to both our infrastructure and support processes, and the Architect is involved in ensuring all aspects of both are designed and implemented.
• Will use technologies including IBM Power/AIX servers, Power HA, Intel/ESX/Windows servers, High-Availability Architecture, and Service-Oriented Architecture.
• In effect, Infrastructure Architects working within the App Hosting group provide the technical linkage and coordination between multiple companies.
• Performing well requires Architects with good and broad large-system infrastructure skills, significant experience working in a large corporation, as well as good interpersonal, collaboration, and leadership abilities.

• Websphere Application Server / ESB (WAS/WESB) on AIX and on System Z 
• AIX and IBM P-Series infrastructure

• Filenet and Kofax 
• Windows & Linux

Role

The core role of this position is to provide senior infrastructure architecture leadership and enterprise level consulting to the organization on the development and management of a highly available, quality, integrated and rationalized infrastructure environment across the company. The primary focus will be to work with the Service and Platform Owners in Integrated Technology Services to assist with advancing the efficiency, effectiveness and availability of those services. The position also acts in a consultative role to ensure appropriate use of services and to ensure that solutions meet the required levels of quality and compliance to standards.

Responsibilities

Key accountabilities include:

• The creation and maintenance of infrastructure architecture strategies, blueprints and standards required to define the roadmap of change for these platforms
•  Work closely with Platform Owners to define strategic direction for the technology and ensure alignment with overall Enterprise Strategy
• Provide architectural guidance to Platform Owners on changing business needs – link between business requirements and ITS capabilities
• Provide consultation and guidance to solution designers
• Participate in QA and governance processes as required
• Engage in solutioning for line of business projects as needed.
• The candidate must possess excellent communication and influencing skills to interact with Senior Executives, Solution Design, Operations and Solution Support functions, thus ensuring that objectives are clearly defined, infrastructure options articulated and the overall target infrastructure provides a robust and comprehensive platform for the business going forward.

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

• Specific knowledge of the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) platform and related technologies are essential for the current position.  Specific knowledge in infrastructure technologies/domains and skills related to:
• ESB Technologies (IBM DataPower, WESB, WSRR)
• Service Orientated Architecture 
• IBM WebSphere Products (WAS, MQ, BPM/WPS, Portal, Message Broker) 
• PureApplication Systems, Cloud Technologies 
• ITCAM (SOA, DP) 
• AIX, Linux, 
• IBM Power and Mainframe hardware 
• Security
• Knowledge of concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies
• Thorough knowledge of the organization's IT environment including vendor software and relationships
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrating an ability to interact effectively with both technical experts and senior executives.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Highly organized, self-motivated, customer oriented; able to work within a team and independently
• Able to communicate complex and sensitive issues in a confidential and professional manner
• Proven ability to adapt to various technologies.
• Graduate Level education with 6+ years of relevant experience.
