Our client has a requirement for a  Middleware Specialist   for a 6 Month Contract opportunity.  The position is located in Mississauga, ON.

Role
We are looking for an Intermediate Level Middleware Specialist to provide Unix and Windows test environments and support for e-business applications. 

Qualifications
  • Excellent UNIX (AIX preferred) experience 
  • Excellent Windows Server 2000 and 2003 admin experience 
  • Experience with WebSphere 5, 6 and 7 
  • Apache/Tomcat experience 

Nice to have
  • HPUX experience a definite asset
  • IIS experience would be an asset 
  • Exposure to SOA based apps would be an asset
  • Excellent analytical skills 
  • Excellent communication skills 

Other must have skills required 
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Oracle or DB2 
  • Thorough understanding of PMLC and SDLC processes
  • System Capacity Management experience
  • High degree of multitasking 
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to junior team members 
  • Project management and negotiation experience 

Responsibilities

  • This individual will be gathering and analyzing project requirements for the creation and support of distributed test environments on AIX and Windows platforms.
  • This individual will work closely with project managers, CTS, TDCT, TDWM, TDSI user communities and other partners to ensure the successful implementation of products/changes into the production environment. 
  • Gathering and analyzing project requirements 
  • Identifying, estimating and tracking TEM-D deliverables required for a project 
  • Preparation of and deploying WebSphere and Windows Applications 
  • Code management in the 'locked down' environment for system testing 
  • Trouble shooting problems (such as environment, hardware, WebSphere, performance, etc) 
  • Creating and maintaining documentation in support of TEM-D infrastructure 
  • Maintaining and analyzing development server performance 
  • Coordinating and scheduling environment upgrades 
  • Building and managing working relationships with external vendors 
  • Team Technical lead on medium to large scale projects 
  • System capacity planning and maintenance is a key aspect of this role 
  • Proactive maintenance
  • Provide consultation and analysis to identify process improvements that will reduce test time and cost as well as improve quality, accuracy and efficiency.

Role
The ideal candidate will provide middleware services and support utilizing WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Message Broker and other middleware products in support of enterprise project integration and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Gather business and technical requirements by attending planning, requirements, solutions design workshops.
  • Hands on installation, configuration, administration and support of WMB and WMQ software to ensure optimized performance.
  • Prepare and maintain through documentation and procedures.
  • Conduct and attend technical and detailed design walkthroughs.
  • Support all testing, create code drop release notes.
  • Attend defect meetings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve middleware related issues.
  • Participate in implementation and post implementation support.
  • Day to day management of the specified project deliverables.
  • Actively ensure knowledge transfer.

Requirements or Qualifications
Qualified Candidates will have:
  • Strong expertise and hands-on administration experience in IBM Message Broker v7 or v8.x and IBM WebSphere MQ.
  • Familiar with message flow development; in particular SOAP web services protocol and RESTful web services (API).
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Certifications in IBM WebSphere message Broker and WebSphere MQ are a definite asset

Job Description:
Our client has a requirement for a Middleware Administrator for a 6 month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Mississauga.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for working within the change management guidelines to install, configure, deploy and support WebSphere Application Server / Object Grid systems and solutions within various development and Production SOA environments. Provide warranty period support for new application / system deployments.


Responsibilities: • Design, Build and deploy WebSphere based infrastructures with an emphasis WebSphere Application service – in support of SOA based business solutions
• Engage in business projects to configure, troubleshoot and deploy business web services within WAS
• Diagnose and resolve issues that arise in the WAS infrastructure (environment, hardware, performance, etc…)
• Participate in performance testing and tuning exercises of WAS solutions
• Maintain and analyze development server performance
• Coordinate and schedule environment upgrades
• System capacity planning and maintenance
• Provide consultation and analysis to identify process improvements to reduce test time, cost and improve quality/accuracy/efficiency
• Must have experience with supporting the development lifecycle from; design , development , pre-production , production , implementation , post-implementation support
• Interact with both internal and external technical community as well as interact with Infrastructure Architects on large business project


Qualifications/Competencies Accreditation: • Applied experience with Middleware technologies
• Applied experience with deploying and troubleshooting web services including: WebSphere Admin, WSDLs and SOAP
• Excellent knowledge of and experience with various WAS standards
• Applied experience in WAS infrastructure
• Applied experience using various scripting languages to automate IT processes
• Excellent knowledge of SSL technologies including configuring SSL, certifications, keystores
• Excellent UNIX (AIX preferred) experience
• Ability to ask probing questions to understand the various concepts presented/discussed
• Excellent communication skills
• Comfortable with working in a rapidly changing, technically complex environment
• Ability to provide technical guidance to junior team members
• Thorough understanding of PMLC and SDLC processes
• Some after-hours\weekend and rotating pager support required
• Must have experience working in a large enterprise class IT environment


Must Haves:
•WebSphere 6.1/ 7.0
•Script Language (JACL / JYTHON)
•Strong UNIX experience
•5+ years of experience designing /building and deploying WebSphere-based infrastructure
•Strong troubleshooting skills
•Strong knowledge planning/ maintenance
•Solid understanding of SOA -based infrastructure
•Strong understanding of SDLC
•Hands-on experience, analyzing performance data (Logs/ Dumps)
•Flexibility to work off hours (potentially weekends / after business hours)

Nice to Haves:
•Object Grid
•Knowledge of scheduling and upgrades
•Knowledge of capacity planning/ optimization / maintenance
