About the Job

Our client has a requirement for a Software Designer for six month contract opportunity.  The position is located in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Role

As a software engineer in test and automation, you will work closely with development teams to design and implement test assets for our API product. Your tasks include implementing the necessary Unit, API, or UI level test harnesses and test scripts to automate test cases.

While the role focuses upon the development of test harnesses in C++, C# or Java to automate software testing and verification, you will also perform manual testing of software components where automated tests are unavailable. Interpreting and analyzing the test results to the various stakeholders, you will give recommendations based on your analysis, as well as create and follow-up on defect reports.

Your experience in coding and test automation, both at the API level and UI level, will help us as we strive to increase our test automation where appropriate. Conducting static and dynamic analysis, you will help to identify code quality improvement opportunities. Additionally, through working with other test engineers locally and globally across different time zones and geographical locations, you will contribute directly to the design and planning of test activities.

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

•     Experience in conducting both manual and automated tests, especially on consumer  

    products and mobile devices. In particular, good understanding of a software development

    kit product and its implication to software tests.

•     Experience in creation of test automation framework and script both at the API level and

    UI level. Knowledge of tools such as JUnit, CPP Unit, Windows UI Automation framework, and other common static and dynamic analysis tools.

•     Good understanding of software development and test processes, including agile SW

    engineering principles and practices as well as test driven development.

•     Strong interest and ideas on improving software quality via test automation.

•     Self-initiated, self-motivated, with quick learning ability and attention to details

•     Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

•     Solid programming experience in C++, C#, Java, and other scripting languages, on  

    Windows, Android, or other OS platforms.

•     Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Bugzilla, and

   Quality Center.

•     SW development experience

  - C++, C#, Java

Candidates with prior experience processing big data for analytics, or have worked closely with business analysts, are preferred.

Qualifications

This candidate will be responsible for rolling out Oracle Hyperion Planning to different lines of businesses. Candidate must have working knowledge of this program to be able to know what questions to ask and to be able to manage teams working on this project. They would need to be able to know how calculations are done for input/output as they are working on the development side of the business. Any process changes would require this Project Manager to know and understand the software in order to action next steps. They are not configuring the software but rather understanding how end users will use it. 

Requirements or Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will have:

• 5+ years Oracle Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 (older version will also be considered) experience
• 5+ years Hyperion Essbase experience
• 10+ years budgeting experience 
• 10+ years PMLC/SDLC experience 
• Strong communication skills
•  3rd party vendor experience
• Financial/Banking experience is preferred
